All ages. Free show. 2-5pm.

The Country Duo is Kansas City’s Kasey Rausch and Marco Pascolini. After just a year of working together as a duo, 2016 found the two playing in Nashville at the Station Inn, recording at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN as well as being invited by Sun Studio to film the television show PBS Sun Studio Sessions. The episode is currently airing on PBS stations across the country. The Country Duo’s first recording, a limited edition 45rpm record, is now available. The Sun Studio Sessions EP will be released in 2017 with accompanying tour dates.

Raised in the Kansas City area on a wide variety of musical influences, Greg Wickham’s music rips through the crossroads of roots rock, country, and Americana. Having shared lead singing and songwriting duties with brother Fred in alt-country’s critically acclaimed Hadacol, Wickham and the band established themselves as vital forces in the alt-country/roots rock music scene. With appearances on Mountain Stage, at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, and at several other prominent venues and showcases, Wickham and his Hadacol mates were regulars on the road, touring much of the country and earning a stellar reputation for putting on a blistering live show.

Then he disappeared.

Well, at least from the public eye. But he used the self-imposed hiatus from the spotlight to sharpen his songwriting chops and hone his perspective – the kind of perspective that only another decade-plus of grown-up living can provide.

The result is an intensely personal collection of songs written in a universal language, allowing each listener to inject his or her own experiences into the music. Wickham maintains the furious energy Hadacol was known for, but he’s now equally comfortable in quieter, more reflective moments, both in the studio and on stage.

Nestled between overgrown oak trees in the Ozark Mountains, sits one of the best kept secrets in Missouri – Copper Run Distillery, a small business growing deep roots. Copper Run is a boutique, artisan distillery that favors quality over quantity and refines the age-old craft of distilling into a drink-worthy art form.

The Copper Run family of spirits is heavily influenced by local resources. Pure limestone rich water, Missouri white oak barrels, and the ever changing climate in the Ozarks create a unique distilling environment. From the beginning, Copper Run’s White Whiskey (Ozark Mountain Moonshine) and barrel-aged Whiskey won the silver medal from the American Distiller’s Institute in 2010. We’ve since expanded our product line to include rum.

We continue to develop new traditions, growing our business and evolving the art of our spirits. Today, small batch production, imagination, and heart blend together creating exciting new products.

Kansas City | The Country Duo Trio @ Jazz: A Louisiana Kitchen
May 18 @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Join us for music and a cajun dinner at Jazz: A Louisiana Kitchen right on the State Line in midtown, Kansas City. We play as a trio every third Thursday of the month. Free and all ages.

Kasey Rausch – guitar & vocals | Marco Pascolini – pedal steel, guitar | Richard Burgess – bass

The Country Duo is Kansas City’s Kasey Rausch and Marco Pascolini. Armed with acoustic and electric guitars, a pedal steel, and a passion for good ol’ country music, you’ll hear them play Rausch’s original tunes as well as the classics from Patsy to Merle, Gram to Emmylou. After just a year of working together as a duo, 2016 found the two playing in Nashville at the Station Inn, recording at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN as well as being invited by Sun Studio to film the PBS Sun Studio Sessions. The episode will air on PBS stations across the country beginning Spring 2017, but look for the first audio recordings to be released by Winter 2016.

Kasey Rausch is a 4th generation songwriter, musician and co-producer of River Trade Radio on KKFI 90.1FM. Her family and musical roots can be found in Parkville, Kansas City, the Missouri Ozarks, Winfield, Kansas (home of the legendary Walnut Valley Festival), and deep Southeast Texas. Rausch’s third album Guitar in Hand (MudStomp Records 2014) debuted at #3 on the Roots Music Reporting charts and was voted one of the top three albums of the year by readers of The Pitch, KC’s weekly entertainment guide. She was named 2013’s Female Performer of the Year by The Farmer’s Turnpike on KMXN 92.9 FM, sharing the stage with Joe Ely, Peter Rowan, Roland White, Kris Delmhorst, Jack Williams and many more.

Marco Pascolini is the stuff of guitar legends. For more than twenty years he has forged his path as one of the most well-respected musicians in Kansas City. Recognized as one of the region’s most influential musicians, his talent across a multitude of instruments has been acknowledged in numerous music media including The Kansas City Star and The Pitch, among others. Be it an electric guitar or a pedal steel in his hands, you’ll find him touring with Kasey Rausch’s Country Duo or on stage in his home town with Mr. Marco’s V7, The Naughty Pines or songwriter extraordinaire Scott Hrabko.

Richard Burgess embraces a wide variety of musical styles and has spent the last quarter century working clubs, festivals, theaters, and concert halls as one of Kansas City’s primary bass players. Burgess is equally at home whether in boots at his honky tonk happy hour with The Naughty Pines, or donning a tuxedo in the Heritage Philharmonic. When away from the bass, Richard enjoys picking up a guitar and writing, recording, and performing his own songs. Richard has released a solo album, Midwestern Wind, and can be heard on numerous nationally released recordings.
