pressA CD IS ‘BORN’ -- Artists gather to help Kasey Rausch launch her new CDBy Tim Finn The Kansas City Star Preview Section Thursday, November 25, 2004 www.kansascitystar.com A few weeks ago in the pages of Preview, singer/songwriter Kasey Rausch made the grade in “30 Under 30,” which celebrated the young movers and shakers in music, film, theater and the visual arts in Kansas City and Lawrence. On Friday, Rausch will no longer be “under” 30, and she’s celebrating her 30th birthday in a big way: with a CD-release party at the Cup and Saucer, Fourth and Delaware streets in the River Market. Her brand-new CD is called “Born Near the Waters,” and several friends and accomplices will be on hand to help Rausch celebrate its coming-out. The Buttermilk Boys, featuring Travis Huffhines (who performs on “Waters”), open the evening with a one-hour set, starting at 9 p.m. Then Rausch will perform with Huffhines and her other musical friends: Joel Kraft (of A Blinking Light), Mikal Shapiro (Eudora) and Cindy Novelo, who plays the five-string viola. |
